The Sandwich Recreation Department is excited to invite families to once again come experience the Oak Crest Cove campus for an evening of not -so- scary family friendly fun! Join us for games, a live band, face painting, bounce house, balloon twisting, a petting zoo, hayrides, a cabin decorating contest, food trucks and more! The hayrides begin at 5:30 PM and the band goes on at 6:00! Participants will have the opportunity to purchase single ticket for $5.00 each or purchase a Family Pumpkin Pass for $20.00 and a family of 5 has access to everything! Scarecrow Stuffing

LOCATION: Cotuit Public Library
Got some old, raggedy clothes lying around and don’t know what to do with them? Bring them down to Cotuit Library in the children’s room and create your own scarecrow! You bring the clothes, we’ll bring the stuffing. Then, when you’re done, your scarecrows will be displayed on the library front lawn for one week while the community votes for their favorite one. First, second, and third place prizes will be handed out when you pick up your pumpkin a week later on October 26th, between 9:30 and 3:30. Bring them home to decorate your lawn for Halloween!

Enchanted Forest

For the Friday evening before Halloween, the woodlands will awaken. A guide will lead you along a lantern-lit trail where you will encounter creatures of the night - some strange, some silly and some who have much to say. Tours are roughly one hour in length. Warm clothing, sturdy shoes and a flashlight are recommended. Costumes are encouraged!! We recommend this program for children ages 3 through 12, but everyone is welcome. Haunted Halloween

Calling all Boos and Ghouls to dress up and join us for a day of pumpkin painting and parades! From 12-1:30, Country Garden's scariest staff members will host a pumpkin painting party. For just $5.00 you can pick your own sugar pumpkin and decorate to your undead heart's delight. We will provide suggestions and all the materials a little beast could wish for! At 2:00 we begin our petrified pet parade! All pets dressed in costume will receive a free chance to win a $25.00 Country Garden Gift card to be awarded after the parade. Winner must be present. Plus we have cider, popcorn and treats for all, including your four-footed family members! All pets must have their people on a leash. and the Devil

The great adversary of Western literature, the Devil, appears in Dante’s Inferno and Milton’s Paradise Lost. We will examine the characterization of the Devil in each epic, and the art inspired by these epics. Bring copies of Dante’s Inferno (translated by John Ciardi) and Paradise Lost to class. This course is part of the 2019 Fall Learning Series, sponsored by the Friends of the Eldredge Public Library. A $15 donation per course is suggested. Please register at the Eldredge Public Library.
