Open Enrollment Event

Community Action Committee of Cape Cod and Islands will hold an Open Enrollment Event for those interested in signing up for health and/or dental insurance through the Massachusetts Health Connector that provides coverage effective February 1st.
The deadline for enrolling in a health insurance and/or dental plan is January 23, 2020, so time is of the essence. Health Connector Navigators speak English, Portuguese and Spanish.
If you cannot make it this Saturday, call 508-771-1727 for an appointment. To be covered by health and/or dental insurance on Feb. 1st you must enroll before January 23rd.

Astronomy Imaging Workshop

This time around the guys will give us access to the third and newest edition to their imaging telescope collection, the ATEO-3. ATEO-3 is a Quasar 12.5" f/9 Ritchey Chretien remote imaging system located in the dark skies of the Rio Hurtado Valley in Chile. Workshop participants will be paired up to choose deep-sky object to take an image of for later viewing and downloading. Steve, a licensed astronomy and physics teacher, will give a brief lecture on deep-sky imaging with the telescopes before image selection. Materials cost is $10 per person. For people interested in starting a career in commercial fisheries. The course will be offered free of charge to qualified applicants. In 2020, the course will run in two sessions (three weekends each) from late January to early February and late February to early March. Students will learn about basic maritime terminology, crew responsibilities onboard different types of fishing vessels, basic knot tying, offshore survival, first aid, the Cape Cod fisheries, and the types of gears used in the region. Upon successful completion of the course, students and interested captains will be given an opportunity to attend a meet and greet event at the Fishermen's Alliance office to discuss potential hiring opportunities. Celebrates the significant role the Kennedy¹s played in shaping the history of Hyannis and Cape Cod. The 1.6 mile trail consists of 10 informational signs that are placed at key locations from Main Street to the harbor, finishing up at the JFK Memorial at Veteran¹s Beach Each stop provides a brief history of the site and its significance to the Kennedy¹s and their life on Cape Cod. Visitors along the trail can retrieve additional information by accessing the QR code or dialing the number on each sign.
