Homeless for the Holidays
Kickoff Party

Come on down, bring a new unwrapped toy, non-perishable food items, or cash donations, and enjoy a night of free entertainment and food. Entertainment includes Brandon Manter, Just Like That, Thee Midnight Society, and Shattered. Matty B from Pixy 103 will be broadcasting live from the Mezza Luna, and we will have a special appearance by Mr. & Mrs. Claus so please bring your children to enjoy the event. We will be raffling off many wonderful items, as well as a 50/50 raffle.


Family Pantry 
Turkey Drive

DATE: Donations thru November 21
LOCATION: 133 Queen Anne Rd, Harwich
Thanksgiving is a time for us to give thanks, join family and friends to share in the traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings. Well some of our neighbors here on Cape Cod are not able to afford the holiday dinner. The Family Pantry of Cape Cod helps one in ten families on Cape Cod during the holidays.
The Pantry is asking people from the community to donate medium size turkeys. The Pantry anticipates needing 600 turkeys this year. It would also be nice to offer a pie with each dinner, people from the
community can donate a FROZEN pie if they are able. 
Donations may be dropped off up until November 15, 2019 at The Family Pantry Location Queen Anne Road, Harwich Tuesdays 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m, Wednesdays 10-Noon, Thursdays 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., 5:00– 7:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 am - 12 Noon
Those in need may register now through November 22, 2019 to receive a dinner with all the fixings at The Family Pantry of Cape Cod. You have to be a pantry client to participate and must register by November 22, 2019.
If you are not a client yet come on in and talk to our volunteers to see if you qualify. Pick up for clients is on Sunday Nov 24, 2019. The Pantry will be distributing 400 full dinners that can be cooked at home by the clients. After the first 400 meals are distributed there will be additional turkeys distributed after that. The meals are assembled and distributed by a group of volunteers.

Help Nauset Disposal

Each November, Nauset Disposal organizes our annual food drive, Curb Hunger, to help those in need in our community. Donations from our Cape Cod Customers will benefit The Family Pantry of Cape Cod, and donations from our Plymouth Area Customers will benefit the South Shore Community Action Council. 
Here's How it Works:
On your scheduled pickup day(s) during the weeks of Nov 11 – 22, leave your donation of non-perishable goods next to your container, and we'll take care of the rest. 
We will deliver items to The Family Pantry and and South Shore Community Action Council the week of Thanksgiving. 
In 2018, we donated over 1,500 pounds of food to The Family Pantry of Cape Cod, and we’d like to top that this year… but we can’t do it without your help! Please help us Curb Hunger and ensure those in need in our community have a happy, healthy holiday season. Thank you in advance for your contribution and support!

Stuffed Animal Sleepover

Your favorite stuffed animal is invited to a sleepover at the Brewster Ladies’ Library! Drop your stuffed friend off at the Library on Friday, November 15 any time between 10 am and 5 pm. Once the Library closes for the night – the slumber party begins! With the Library all to themselves for the night, who knows what they’ll get up to? On Saturday morning when you come to pick them up, we’ll have juice, doughnuts, and a fun slideshow about their Library Sleepover! Stuffed animal drop-off is Friday, November, 15 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Brewster Ladies’ Library. Viewing party is 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 16 in the auditorium. All are welcome to attend.


Critter Capers

A half-hour, drop-in program for families. Meet one of the resident animals at the nature center and learn about life cycles, habits and habitats. Suitable for children ages 2 1/2 and up accompanied by an adult. Advance registration is not necessary. They are free to members of the Thornton Burgess Society and $2 per person for non-members.


Move and Groove

All ages are welcome to get moving with DJ Acqua! On the first Friday of each month, participants will be guided by music and gentle instruction to explore a range of rhythm and movement from stillness to free-form dancing. Parents must be present with their children.

Virtual Reality

Virtual reality is a simulated experience that can be similar to or completely different from the real world. Studies are showing evidence pointing toward potential benefits of VR to manage pain. Going back more than 15 years, studies have shown the technique to be useful in a range of settings — from helping people cope with anxiety to helping reduce acute pain during medical procedures, during physical therapy or during dental procedures. Space is limited and programs vary.

Under the Radar

This program is unique as it focuses on substance use treatment through intensive counseling and access to primary care services, but also addresses many of the other areas in patients’ lives, which might interfere with individual recovery such as access to employment, housing, food assistance and more.  Learn to Cope is a non-profit support network that offers education, resources, peer support and hope for parents and family members coping with a loved one addicted to opiates or other drugs. The organization has grown to include over 7000 members as of August 2015, and has become a nationally recognized model for peer support and prevention programming. Kennedy Legacy Trail

on Main Street, Hyannis

Celebrates the significant role the Kennedy¹s played in shaping the history of Hyannis and Cape Cod. The 1.6 mile trail consists of 10 informational signs that are placed at key locations from Main Street to the harbor, finishing up at the JFK Memorial at Veteran¹s Beach Each stop provides a brief history of the site and its significance to the Kennedy¹s and their life on Cape Cod. Visitors along the trail can retrieve additional information by accessing the QR code or dialing the number on each sign. Follow the blue sail stencils on the sidewalks leading the way to each stop.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands is the only one-to-one youth mentoring organization serving the Cape & Islands. Research shows that a match of just one year helps kids stay in school, avoid violent and risky behavior, and gain confidence.
